What’s go cry about it?

go cry about it is a newsletter from me, Jeevan Sangha. I’m a writer, editor, and speaker born and raised in Surrey, British Columbia.

I’m currently the editor-in-chief of 5X Press, Canada’s essential South Asian youth culture magazine. I get to write and edit stories that relate to my experience as a kid in the Punjabi diaspora.

I’ve interviewed dope creatives and performers like Pallavi Sharda and Rehma, broken down the Farmer’s Protests, yelled about how Bollywood appropriates regional music and tried to tackle the patterns of domestic violence and sexual assault within the South Asian community.

go cry about it is a home for all the other things that I’ve wanted to write over the years, but never got around to: personal essays, recommendations, cultural criticism, reviews, musings, ill-mannered rants and everything in-between.

go cry about it is a space for me to be unapologetically myself—to write about the topics that are of interest of me. To write about the things I’ve shed tears over, whether through joy or sadness.

And if you don’t like what you read, I encourage you to please go cry about it.

Who is go cry about it for?

This newsletter is for the chronically online, film lovers, silly people, nepo babies who want to learn about the trials and tribulations of regular folk, and anyone who is friends with me irl and url.

Like, comment, subscribe💘

If you connect at all with something you’ve read in go cry about it—please like, comment and (most importantly) subscribe! A subscription is the best way to support the newsletter—and me—and it makes sure that new articles get sent directly to your inbox so you don’t miss a thing.

Stay connected👩🏽‍💻

I tweet about serious, but mostly silly things here. I post image updates of my life on a monthly-ish basis here. I rate films based on how much fun I had watching them rather than how good they are here.
